Places to Visit

Hippodrome of Constantinople

Built in the 4th century AD, the Hippodrome was the political and social center of Byzantine Constantinople, with a capacity of approximately 100,000 spectators. Key monuments include:

  • Obelisk of Theodosius (originating from Ancient Egypt, dated to the 15th century BC)

  • Serpentine Column (brought from Delphi, 5th century BC)

  • German Fountain (a gift from German Emperor Wilhelm II in 1898)

Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque)

Constructed between 1609 and 1616, the mosque features 6 minarets and more than 20,000 hand-painted İznik tiles, making it one of the most visited Ottoman mosques in Turkey.

Hagia Sophia

Originally built in 537 AD, Hagia Sophia remained the world’s largest cathedral for nearly 900 years. It later functioned as an imperial mosque for 481 years and is recognized today as one of the most significant architectural achievements in history.

Topkapi Palace

Serving as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1465 to 1856, Topkapi Palace covers an area of approximately 700,000 m². The palace complex includes 4 main courtyards and houses priceless imperial collections.
