The ancient ruins and monuments dating back to the Roman era provide a rich variety of sights to see, such as the Roman theater, an impressive stadium with a capacity of 10,000 people, the Hellenistic gate of the city, the Agora, the Roman Baths, the columns on the main street of the city, the fountain, and the stepped canal. Aspendos, an ancient Greco-Roman city located near the Eurymedon (Bridge River) about 50 km away, was one of the first cities to mint its own coins in the 5th century BC and was the cultural and commercial center of the southern region of Anatolia in the past. Aspendos, the largest city of ancient Pamphylia, is beautifully preserved and restored. The amphitheater in Aspendos, built in AD 155, is an important tourist destination with excellent acoustics and stage decor. It previously hosted up to 55,000 spectators and is now used for major cultural events, festivals, and concerts.
